  Double rhum

During the '50s and '60s, my late Grandma used to take her 9 children and hawaiian guitar to house parties ! Part of her blood runs through my veins, no doubt. I always loved those fantastic sunny rythms and melodies causing me day or nightime hallucinations of palmtrees, turqoise waters, white sand, hot winds. I had to give back some of that spirit to my record, and thought about a grand finale for it, improvised around a central double-headed melody. So I sat down with my ukulele, lap steel guitar and surf guitar, and a little bottle of Caribbean nectar, dark rum. My plan was simple : before each track, a shot. The bass was recorded last. I think. Hum. All the tracks are "one-takers". No second chances ! Except for the ukulele, whose part I didn't like. The drum roll at the end represents a possible thunderstorm over the beach. Since I decide what the weather is gonna be in the song, the thunderstorm never hits. But watch out for rum-storms !
